The CEO and lead artist of Bloom Music Weddings, Kathryn Cobbler is one of Ontario’s most in demand classical-crossover artists, having performed with Toronto’s Trans-Siberian Orchestra, the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, and nearly all of the region’s premier concert series. A practitioner of loop pedal techniques since 2017, Cobbler is known for her obsession with creating immersive soundscapes, having been enlisted by theatrical productions to write original music in addition to her work as a performer. After a 20+ year journey as a musician performing across Canada, Kathryn has turned Bloom Music Weddings and loop pedal performances into the best option when looking for live music for Ottawa weddings.
“The type of music you pick can set the tone of your wedding and solidify a theme. And it's the thing people most often remember.” — The Knot
WHAT IS A LOOP PEDAL?
Used by artists from Ed Sheeran to #1 Billboard classical artist Jessica Meyer, loop pedal technology allows one solo artist to play multiple harmonies and accompaniments at the same time, all 100% live. A performer can play one harmonic line, and “loop” it so that they can perform a melodic line on top. In other words, one string player becomes a lush orchestra.
WHY CHOOSE A LOOP PEDAL VIOLIST FOR MY WEDDING?
When it comes to music options, Bloom Music Weddings allows you to “have it all”: professional live performance, the sound of a full ensemble, AND the affordability of a solo artist. Not to mention, since loop pedal techniques take years to truly master, to hear a loop-pedal artist in performance is exceptionally rare.
CAN’T I JUST HIRE A DJ?
Of course you can! A DJ is a great option for the dancing portion of a wedding; in fact, there’s nothing better! But for a reception or cocktail hour, a loop pedal artist adds that special touch of live music, instantly setting the tone of a unique and unforgettable experience.
CAN’T I HIRE A MORE TRADITIONAL STRING QUARTET?
A string quartet for your Ottawa wedding is a great idea for many reasons. A live performance with four voices can be special! However, string quartets are not as “budget-friendly”, and hiring four musicians can be an expense that forces you to make other compromises in your wedding. Thankfully, with Bloom Music Weddings, one loop pedal violist becomes four string instruments, allowing you to “have it all”—affordability and a luxurious musical experience.
WHY NOT HAVE A FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER PLAY AT MY WEDDING?
Inevitably, couples have to find places to cut costs, and having a friend or family member perform at your wedding is sometimes a simple way to do so. It can even be a sentimental choice, and can be the best option IF that person also makes a living as a professional musician. However, too often the friend or family members couples enlist are amateur musicians who have never performed at a wedding before; these musicians often don’t have the experience to make the music truly special. Couples who hire a professional artist to perform at their wedding can be confident in exceptional, unforgettable quality… and your friends and family can be where they belong: enjoying the festivities, with all eyes on you!
CAN I CHOOSE MY OWN MUSIC?
Absolutely! There is a repertoire list on the website that serves as a guide (see here). If there is a song you don't see listed, not a problem, Kathryn would be happy to arrange it for your event.
WHAT HAPPENS IF BLOOM MUSIC WEDDINGS MISSES A REHEARSAL OR PART OF A PERFORMANCE?
In the entirety of Bloom Music Weddings’ existence, Kathryn Patricia has prided herself on NEVER missing or being tardy to any of her client obligations. However, you are covered against any potential artist-caused absence with our full money-back guarantee. However, while Bloom Music Weddings is able to resolve the vast majority of circumstances in a wedding we are not responsible for tardiness or absence due to extreme weather or other events outside of the artist’s control.
I would love to hear from you if you would like me to perform at your next event.
